Robinson David Chirinos González is a former professional baseball catcher born on June 5, 1984, in Punto Fijo, Venezuela.
Nicknamed “Pelo Buche”, the catcher played in MLB for the Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, and Baltimore Orioles throughout his career.
Chirinos’s first-ever professional game was with the AZL Cubs in 2001 after he signed with the Cubs as an undrafted free agent in 2000.

Chirinos founded the Robinson Chirinos Foundation after making his big league debut in 2011. It was their mission to benefit the youth in communities who have a love for baseball and education.
It was his father’s wish for him to start a foundation to give back to the community. Therefore, he started out small as Chirinos began donating baseball equipment to kids in need in Venezuela.
He wanted the next generation to have the opportunities that he has had. Luckily, the foundation grew much more after the Texas Rangers began to assist Chirinos in his charitable efforts.
The foundation now provides food, clothing, medicine, and school supplies to those in need both in Venezuela and the United States.
Heidi is mostly active in the foundation doing social services and charity work. Robinson also attends donation events alongside his wife as much as possible.
In addition, they visit shelters and senior living facilities on occasion and help them as needed. The charitable works of the foundation have been a blessing for the homeless and needy people.
